On Saturday, September 13th in San Francisco, independent music label Empire hosted a free hometown concert that brought together music, food, and local culture.
The event served as a celebration of both the city and the artists who continue to shape its sound. With no cost to attend, the concert opened its doors to fans from all over the Bay Area, creating an inclusive space that reflected the community Empire has long supported.
Headlining the concert were Shaboozey, Fireboy DML, INAYAH, and Red Leather. The lineup blended multiple genres, from hip-hop and R&B to Afrobeats and alternative sounds, showcasing Empire’s wide-ranging roster and influence.
There were also surprise special guest performances from Bay Area favorites Larry June, P-Lo, and Mistah F.A.B., whose appearances drew some of the loudest reactions of the night.
Beyond the music, the event also highlighted local businesses through a lineup of Bay Area food and clothing vendors. Food trucks and booths from Señor Sisig, Cochinita SF, MeSoHungry, Curry Up Now, and Da_Poke_Man were set up throughout the venue, offering attendees a chance to support small businesses while enjoying the show.
“This is so dope. It helps me and all the other trucks expose our food out here,” said local vendor Da_Poke_Man.
For many of the vendors, the concert provided valuable visibility and an opportunity to connect with new customers in a high-energy environment.
The turnout reflected the strong relationship between Empire and the city. The crowd’s energy remained high throughout the night, with attendees singing along, dancing, and reacting loudly to surprise guests. The overall atmosphere was relaxed, positive, and rooted in hometown pride.
“I wanted to show my appreciation for what Empire has done for the music scene in San Francisco,” said a local attendee.
That sentiment echoed throughout the crowd, as many viewed the concert not just as a show, but as a thank-you to a label that has consistently invested in Bay Area artists and culture.
By combining major artists, local talent, small businesses, and a free entry point, Empire’s hometown concert stood out as more than just a performance. It was a celebration of San Francisco’s creative community and a reminder of how music can bring people together in a meaningful way.
